Hey, I’m İsmet. I’ve been doing graphic design for over 10 years now. I create brand identities, design packaging, draw illustrations, collaborate with talented folks, brainstorm, you name it.
İSMET ÖZKAN — İSTANBULTHREE EQUAL PIECES — PRECISE ANGLES
My logo is inspired by an invention known as the Czech hedgehog, an anti-tank obstacle used in warfare. I was really blown away by Major František Kašík’s simple yet genius idea back in the 1930s, where he managed to completely stop tanks by assembling three equally sized pieces at precise angles. It can be produced in large quantities from scrap materials without fancy tech, and it’s super easy to transport in war situations. It’s sustainable, simple, effective—a problem-solving gem. It embodies all the qualities you’d want in a design. You could say design is the art of problem-solving in general, and I’m all about simple yet effective ideas. That’s why I decided to incorporate this metaphor into my logo.
